Darwin L. Burnworth Sr.

Darwin L. Burnworth Sr., age 77, of Huntington, died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

A private memorial service will be held with burial in Gardens of Memory in Huntington County at a later date.

Darwin was born on December 18, 1940 in Huntington, the son of Lowell G. and Evalene E. (McKenzie) Burnworth. He graduated from Huntington High School in 1959 and married Esther Kipp on October 19, 1984 in Huntington. He worked as a tool grinder for Dana Corp. in Columbia City, retiring in 2004 after 30 years of service. He was a train collector and an avid water-skier; he also loved to roller-skate. He enjoyed cross-country running and loved to work on old cars.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Burnworth of Huntington, sons Darwin Burnworth Jr., Ryan Burnworth, Clifford Burnworth, and Adam Burnworth, all of Huntington, daughters Lisa Galo, Darlene Gray, and Mechelle (Christopher) Wilhelm, all of Huntington, brothers Richard (Bonnie) Burnworth and Jerry (Elizabeth) Burnworth, both of Huntington and Keith (Sherrie) Burnworth of South Whitley, a sister, Cheryl North of New Haven, 15 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Darwin “Curtis” Burnworth, and a daughter, Deborah Burnworth.
