Darrell Gene Young, 79, passed away February 2, 2018 in Marion General Hospital, Marion, Indiana. He was born in Marion, Indiana to Cleome “Smokey” and Patsy (Pinkerton) Young.
Darrell was a life long resident of Grant county. He graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1959. Darrell proudly served in the United States Army. Darrell worked with his father at Young Americans Vending Machines. In his free time he loved gardening, especially growing tomatoes. He also enjoyed fishing and socializing with friends.
Darrell is survived by his mother, Patsy (Pinkerton) Young, Marion; daughter, Lesa Grant, New Jersey; brother, Mike (Linda) Young, Ohio; sister, Kimberly K. (Mike) Bernier, Marion; granddaughter, Aislinn Grant, New Jersey; extended family, Brian (Robin) Morgan, Gas City; Susan (Aaron) Smith, Gas City; Amy Getchell, Carmel; special great-grandchildren, Ashley (Brandon) Fultz, Sean Carl, Kaitlyn Carl; special great-great-grandson, Ryder Fultz.
He is preceded in death by his father, Cleome “Smokey” Young; daughter, Chantel Weigand; brother, James Young.
A memorial service and committal service with military honors will be held at a later date. Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Gas City Chapel, 200 North 7th Street, Gas City, Indiana was entrusted with the arrangements.
