Darl C. Willcox

Darl C. Willcox, 96, Warsaw, Indiana, passed away on April 9, 2023, at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw. The daughter of the late Hobart and Thelma (Yoder) Wagner Sr., Darl was born in Warren, Indiana, on April 5, 1927.

Darl learned the value of hard work at an early age growing up on her family’s farm. After graduating from Urbana High School in 1945, she married Claude R. Willcox on April 11, 1948. During their thirty years of marriage, Darl worked tirelessly both in the home and on the farm. She did so with much grace, love, and endurance. Darl was a quiet, strong woman who gave love unconditionally and had a caring, kind-hearted nature. Over the years she passed on these valuable traits to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her deeply.

On January 16, 1978, Darl experienced deep heartbreak when her husband Claude died. This loss transferred immense responsibility to Darl, which she managed with love and positivity. She didn’t let the pressures of life affect her in a negative way; rather, she met them with a fun and happy manner. Darl found comfort in the Lord and was a member of the Urbana Yoke Parish in Urbana for many years.

The loving memory of Darl C. Willcox will be forever cherished by her son, Tyler Willcox, Warsaw; daughter, Jennifer (William) Chapman, Woodburn; brother, Duane Wagner, North Manchester; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Darl was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude Willcox; brothers, Hobart A. Wagner Jr., and Dorlan E. Wagner; and sisters, Eileen V. Harvey, Reva G. Lee, and Lois N. Haupert.
