Daniel O. Williams, 72, of Somerset, passed away at 2:19 am on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Marion General Hospital. He was born in Marion on November 28, 1948, to Joseph and Lydia (Minnick) Williams. He married Nita R. Leslie, and she preceded him in death.
Daniel graduated from Marion High School in 1966 and obtained his teaching certificate. He worked as an auto mechanic for several years and taught skilled trades at Tucker Vocational School.
Daniel enjoyed working on gas engines, hiking, and collecting fossils. He was a jack-of-all-trades and could fix just about anything. Daniel was dedicated to his family and loved his grandchildren dearly.
Survivors include his father, Joseph Williams of Marion; daughter, Nicci (Robert) Cornett of Wabash; son, Brady Williams of OH; grandsons, Daniel Cornett of Wabash, Darran (Amy) Cornett of FL, and Nathan Cornett of Gas City; granddaughters, Abbie Cornett of LaFontaine and Lindsi Williams of Gas City; great-granddaughter, Savannah Williams of Gas City; sisters, Karen Lee (Jim) Wert of Marion, JoAnn Miller of Marion, and Tina W. (Thad) Reynolds of Marion; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia G. Williams; wife, Nita R. Williams; and grandson, Harley Williams.
The family will host a private Celebration of Life for Daniel at a later date.
