Cynthia J. “Cindy” (Glass) McWhirt, 52, unexpectedly went to be with the Lord, on Monday, October 31, 2016, at her residence. She was born in Marion, the daughter of Larry and Flora (Brown) Glass.

She graduated from Wes-Del High School, Gaston, in 1982 and later attended Tucker Vocational School, Marion.

Cindy married David McWhirt on April 26, 1988, in Upland.

She had been employed with Taylor University for more than 20 years, where she served with Creative Dining Services. She worked as a cook in the Dining Commons, a clerk in the Grille, and most recently a clerk at the Dining Commons and also concessions for university sporting events. She thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Taylor community and was often apart of student discussion groups and Airband. She formed friendships with many students and considered them as family.

Cindy formerly attended New Hope Baptist Church, Gas City, and in her spare time, she enjoyed reading, rummaging, and spending time with family and friends. She was known for giving away frogs to remind everyone to F.R.O.G.- Fully Rely On God.

Survivors include her husband of 28 years, David, Upland; her parents, Larry & Flo Glass, Upland; two sons, Tyler (Jami) Wright, Fishers, and Caleb McWhirt, Upland; a sister, Karla Shanks, Upland; two grandsons, Liam and Radley; a nephew and a niece, Zach and Briana Shanks, Upland; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney Glass.

At her request, her body will be cremated.
