Commissioners Approve Signs And Various Contracts Monday Morning

WABASH,Indiana – At the Wabash County Board of Commissioners meeting Monday morning, the board heard from County Highway Superintendent John Martin about several proposed school bus warning signs on 700 S, west of 50 E in the Treaty area. Martin said that MSD of Wabash County asked the commissioners approve the signs warning drivers in the area because they feel drivers are not slowing down enough for kids waiting for the bus on 700 S. The board approved the placement of two warning signs in the area.

Martin also updated the board News on Bridge 510 at the Harrison Avenue and Wabash Street intersection. Martin went on to say that last week workers poured the concrete on top of the piles which the road will sit on and this week the cap on the pile sheeting will be poured. Martin went on to say that the construction is still on schedule.

Wabash County Sheriff Bob Land reported to the board that there are 86 inmates in the Wabash County Jail with 39 overflow inmates being held in Miami County. Last week there were 23 new book-ins and six transports to the Department of Corrections.

The board also approved a three-year $12,060 contract with INdigital Telecom for support and maintenance of the county’s 911 services at central dispatch. The board then appointed Susan Baker to the Wabash Carnegie Public Library Board to replace Katie Beauchamp, who recently resigned her position. Board Chairman Barry Eppley told MiBash News that the Commissioners appoint one person to the seven member library board, and Baker will serve the term until end of 2017.

Finally, the board voted to approve the merger of county employee and Sheriff Department’s email accounts onto a Microsoft product in the cloud. According to Board Chairman Barry Eppley, the move will free up local server space for other county activities. Intrasect will do the work of migrating and moving the information to the cloud for a one time fee of $9,640 with a monthly fee of $2,012 for virus protection and maintaining the information on the cloud.
