Clarence D. Wingard

Clarence D. Wingard, 84, of Peru passed away at 5:20pm on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital.

He was born in Miami County on April 2, 1934 to Jake and Lazzy Wingard.  He married Mary Worden, and was a member of the Peru Masonic Lodge, the Peru Maennerchor, the Eagle’s Lodge, and was a life member of the VFW.  Clarence served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1956, and was a retired truck driver.

He is survived by his sons: Jackie Wingard of Florida, Johnnie Wingard (companion Laurie Bourke) of Michigan, and Danny Wingard (wife Teresa) of Michigan.  Also surviving are nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as a brother Melvin Wingard of Florida, and sisters Mary Gerlach of St. Louis, and Ruth Eash of Mulberry, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a brother Vernon Wingard, and a sister Kaite Townson.

Visitation will be held from 9am – 11am on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana.  Funeral service will follow at 11am, with Pastor Jim Rairigh officiating.  Burial will take place in the Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.
