Charles W. "Bill" Porter

Charles W. “Bill” Porter, 68, of Sims, passed away at 12:34 pm on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born in Anderson on October 24, 1953, to Chester and Dorothy (Naselroad) Porter.

Bill graduated from Madison Heights High School and served in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, Bill worked as a mechanic for Hadsell Tire.

Bill enjoyed going to concerts and listening to music. He also liked to spend time with his friends. He was an avid racing fan, and he especially enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Survivors include his companion of 11 years, Melanie L. Schriver of Sims; daughters, Danielle (William) Herkomer of Anderson and Peggy (Tre) Porter of Anderson; son, Richard (Kelly) Roberts of Anderson; grandchildren, Bobby, Xander, Sylix, Ethan, Marcus, and Nathan; great-grandchild, Raven; sisters, Linda Robinett, Diana Swisher, and Beverly Porter; brothers, Pete Porter and John Porter; plus several nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Porter; mother, Dorothy Porter; daughter, Amanda L. Porter; and brothers, Paul Porter and Jimbo Porter.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, April 8, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington St., Swayzee, IN 46986.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will begin at 1:00 pm.
