Charles John Bretz

Charles John Bretz, 88, of Peru passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Blair Ridge Health Campus.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 30, 1930 to Charles and Stella (Marx) Bretz.  He married Alice (Jaeger) Bretz on March 3, 1951, and she preceded him in death.  Charles served in the Illinois National Guard, and later retired from Master Molded Products as a tool and die maker in the plastics industry.  He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Crystal Lake, IL, as well as IOOF, the Masonic Lodge, was a Boy Scout Master, and was a member of the Holiday Rambler RV Club.

He is survived by his children: Cheryl (Greg) Irwin of Auburn, WA; Kathryn (Wayne) Bunker of Peru; and Charles (Stacey) Bretz of Mt. Prospect, IL.  Also surviving are grandkids Jennifer Korving, Jaclyn (Brice) Orton, Kristine Schuster, Michelle Kuper, Daniel Kuper, Jonathan Bretz, and Jessica Bretz; and great-grandkids Jazlyn Korving, Kiana Korving, Ethan Orton, Chase Orton, Harrison Orton, and Taylor Hursey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a sister Joan E. (Bretz) Mullard.

Visitation will be held from 4pm – 7pm on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana.  Funeral service will follow at 7pm with Pastor Jim Rairigh officiating, to be followed by a Masonic service.  Burial will take place at 1pm CST on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights, Illinois, with Pastor Greg Lucas officiating.
