Charles “Abe” Edward  Spohn

Charles “Abe” Edward  Spohn, 91, of Peru, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2024.

He was born on November 16, 1932 in Peru, Indiana to William Edward and Louise (Aikman) Spohn. Charles joined the United States Navy where he served from 1952-1956. On September 22, 1955, Charles married the love of his life, Phyllis (Waters) Spohn. They shared 65 years of marriage before Phyllis passed away on October 4, 2021. Charles was retired from Maconaquah School Corporation as a custodian. He was also a member of the Loree Brethren Church where he was the drink maker for every chicken noodle dinner they had.  In his spare time, Charles was an avid fisherman.

Charles is survived by his children: Max (Susan) Spohn of Kokomo, Indiana, Duane (Sharilyn) Spohn of Amboy, Indiana, and Janice (Doug) Kelsey of Fishers, Indiana. In addition to 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, Charles is also survived by his brothers:  Richard Spohn, Patrick Spohn, and Jimmie Spohn, all of Peru.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 10:00am-12:00pm at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana.  Funeral services will follow at 12:00pm with Pastor Kevin Palmer officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Rankin Cemetery in Miami County.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Loree Brethren Church for their noodle dinner fund.
