Catherine W. “Cass” Amiss, 90, of North Manchester, Indiana, died at 8:44 am, Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester. She was born September 9, 1930 in Lake Placid, New York, to George and Genevieve (Dowling) Doray.
Cass first married Harold Edward White on November 17, 1951; he died in April of 1986. She then married Charles Robert Amiss on March 29, 1993 in North Manchester. She was a teachers aide, Timbercrest Activity Director, Red Cross Safety Instructor, and a housewife. Cass gave swimming lessons and water safety at the Community Pool in North Manchester. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren, the Shepherd Center, and was active at the Manchester Public Library. Cass was very active in her children’s activities, band boosters, girls basketball, and was a sports supporter.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Robert Amiss of North Manchester, five children, Steve (Vicky) White and William White, both of North Manchester, Jeffrey (Laura) White of Nashville, Tennessee, Peter White of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Pamela White of Rhinebeck, New York, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Thomas Doray, and two sisters, Carol Doray, and Jane Montrois.
