Carolyn A. Tighe, 84, Gas City, passed away at 10:05 pm on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Rolling Meadows Health & Rehabilitation Center in LaFontaine. She was born in Portland, Indiana, on Sunday, May 2, 1937, to Nathaniel and Leona (Franks) Lykins.
Carolyn graduated from Portland High School and worked in the cafeteria at Mississinewa High School since 2005. She previously worked for RCA for 18 years and had been a private secretary for Aluminum DieCast in Redkey. She was a member of Phi Beta Psi-Gamma Nu Society and was an Eastern Star in Redkey. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, traveling, and spending time with family. She loved to rummage and collect pretty crystal glassware. She really enjoyed being with people.
Survivors include her sons, Rock Tighe of Gas City, Gary (Kim) Tighe of Noblesville; daughter, Gayle (Jack Ditton) LaPierre of Marion; grandchildren, Nolan Tighe, Claire (Klint) Tighe, Michael (Alicia) LaPierre, Megan LaPierre, Matthew LaPierre; great-grandchildren, Dylan LaPierre, Calli LaPierre, Kallahan Tighe, Andrew LaPierre; and sister-in-law, Marianne Lykins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Jack Tighe; brothers, James Lykins, Nathaniel Lykins, Jr.; son-in-law, Don LaPierre; grandson, Austin A. Tighe; sister, Jackie VanSkyoch.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Carolyn’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Josh Elliott officiating. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery in Redkey, IN.
