Byron T. “Moe” Steele, 87, of Roann, Indiana, died at 10:15 am, Monday, October 22, 2018, at Autumn Ridge Healthcare in Wabash. He was born October 16, 1931 in Peru, Indiana to Roy V. and Opal Marie (Teel) Steele.
Moe was a 1951 graduate of Roann High School. He was a sergeant in the US Army serving in Korea where he was awarded a medal for bravery. He was a machine repairman for Kroger Egg in Wabash several years. He was a member of the Roann First Brethren Church and the Wabash Moose Lodge and American Legion. Moe enjoyed helping people.
He is survived by two sisters, Shirley A. Purdy and Colleen Conkling, both of Roann, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Pernella L. Steele, and three brothers, Basil, Kenneth, and DeVon Steele.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, October 26, 2018 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Roann Chapel, 335 S. Chippewa Road, Roann, with Pastor Wayne Balmer officiating. Burial will be in Roann Community Cemetery. Friends may call 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
