Betty I. Meade, age 94, formerly of Fairmount, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023 at Bridgewater Healthcare Center in Carmel, Indiana.
Betty was born on March 15, 1928 in Marion, Indiana, the daughter of the late Claude and Zelma (Bogue) Galbreath. She worked at Foster Forbes for 30 years as well as J&J Newberry, Fetter’s Restaurant, and Elder Beerman at North Park Mall. Betty was a member of Hillside Wesleyan Church.
Betty loved her sports and rooting on the Marion Giants and Mississinewa Indians when her son John, grandsons Mike and Scotty, and granddaughter Tabitha played basketball. She was also an avid Pacers, IU, and Colts fan. She enjoyed riding in her grandson Chad’s classic cars and attending car shows with him. Above all, she loved her family, friends, and all of those who followed her health journey on Facebook. Betty was also an avid Elvis Presley fan.
She is survived by a son, Myron Harner (Treysa); a daughter, Janice Meade (Jerry Saunders); a grandson she helped raised, Chad Brittian (Rick Velandingham); daughter-in-law, Beverly Meade; a brother, Russell Galbreath; a sister, Annabell McCann; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; 3 nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Meade on March 23, 1998, Claudia Harner; a son, John Meade; and a grandson, Wiley Gordan.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Funeral Services will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 14 in the funeral home with Pastor Gary Bingham officiating.
Burial will follow funeral services in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
