Bernita E. Pearson, 95, Marion, went to be with the Lord at 7:58 am on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Thursday, March 22, 1928, to Ralph and Wilma (Little) Phillabaum. On June 7, 1947, she married James E. Pearson, and he preceded her in death on August 8, 2004.
Bernita graduated from Marion High School and worked at First National Bank until her retirement. She was a member of First Christian Church in Marion. She enjoyed putting her creativity to use in a variety of crafts, and she especially loved to quilt. She also enjoyed watching hummingbirds, butterflies, and cardinals. More than anything, Bernita loved being with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra K. (Everett) Briggs of Marion; granddaughter, Stacie B. (Dennis) Watson of Marion; grandson, Christopher (Peggy) Briggs of Marion; great-granddaughters, Kaytlin (Darren) Swick of Lafayette and Elissa (Zachary) Frank of Athens, OH; great-grandson, Colin Briggs of Marion; great-great-granddaughter, Elena Swick; sister, Ermajean Shaw of Fort Myers, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Bernadine Brankle; and brothers-in-law, Donald Brankle and James Shaw.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Bernita’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Haley Asberry officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
