Barbara Lucille Haskins Steller

Barbara Lucille Haskins Steller, 98, of LaFontaine, Indiana, died at 10:35 a.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center in LaFontaine. She was born January 24, 1920 in Wabash, Indiana to Elmer L. and Bessie Ethel (Collins) Wampler.

Barbara first married Rev. Wilbur Haskins on February 19, 1938 in Peru, Indiana; he died June 4, 1979. She then married Verl D. Steller on September 11, 1999 in Wabash; he died March 23, 2013. She was a homemaker and a member of the Wabash North Wesleyan Church. She was the wife of a former pastor and together they pastored churches at Forest, LaPorte, Thornhope, Frankton, and Mount Zion. She enjoyed working crafts, crocheting, and was still crocheting hats, scarves, and baby quilts, in her 90s. Barbara was devoted to her church and had a heart for missions. She also was a volunteer at the Wabash County Hospital.

She is survived by four children, Janice (Jarrel) Waymire of Elwood, Indiana, Deanna (James) Chinn of Alexandria, Indiana, Barbara Sue (Larry) Evans of Tallahassee, Florida, and Paul (Diana) Haskins of Knox, Indiana; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn (Everett) Slagle of Pella, Iowa, and Bonita Michaels of Kokomo, IN. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Wilbur Haskins Jr, and Mark E. Haskins, two grandchildren, Jarrel B. Waymire, and Micki Phillips, two step children, Carmen Sue Allen and Fred Steller, three brothers, Donnas, Jim, and Eugene Wampler, and her sister, Dorcas Hayes.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Joe Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Mississinewa Cemetery, Somerset. Friends may call 12:30 – 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is Wabash North Wesleyan Church.
