Barbara Ellen Fields

Barbara Ellen Fields, 84, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 12:10 pm, Saturday, April 20, 2024, at her home.  She was born on March 1, 1940, in Rowan County, Kentucky, to Monie Mabry.

Barbara was raised in Sandy Hook, Kentucky and moved to Wabash in 1959. She married Charles E. “Charlie” Fields in Wabash on January 14, 1967; he died September 4, 2012. Barbara worked at Wagners, Kroger Egg, and Magnetics, all in Wabash. She moved to Smyrna Tennessee in 1986, and worked and retired from the Whirlpool Corporation in LaVergne, Tennessee. In 2005, she moved to rural Roann, Indiana and back to Wabash in 2014. Barbara was a member of the Southside Free Will Baptist Church. She loved her family, friends, and her church family with all of her heart.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Chuck) Grist of Kendallville, Indiana; two grandchildren, Chase E. (Marilia) Hill of Auburn, Indiana, and Dalton C. Grist of Kendallville; three great-grandchildren, Titan, Sawyer, and Nash Hill, all of Auburn; sister, Beulah Cassidy of Portsmouth, Ohio, step-sister and step brother, Thelma Adkins of Wabash, and Emil (Shelby) Harris of Lagro, Indiana.  She was also preceded in death by her mother, Monie Harris, son, Charles Ray “Chuckie” Fields, five sisters, two step sisters, and two step brothers.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Tim Webb officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash.  Friends may call 4-7 pm Friday, at the funeral home.
