PERU – Sheriff Tim Miller stated that on the evening of 8/10/2016 the Miami County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into an allegation that a Miami County resident was robbed and beaten while walking on the Nickel Plate Trail walkway just outside Peru. The victim provided information that lead to the arrest and incarceration of 31 year old Peru resident, Kyle A. Deckard.
Information learned during the initial investigation disclosed that Kyle Deckard and the victim are associates and that a possible motive for alleged attack may include money owed to Deckard. The information disclosed thus far in the investigation clearly supports the fact that this was not a random act of violence nor was it a stranger on stranger crime.
