Arthella (Artie) Mary Working, 89, of Peru, IN, passed away on Thursday December 21, 2023 at The Waters of Peru.
She was born July 6, 1934, in Fairfield, VT, to Fred and Ardelle (Young) Bushey. She married Richard Working on July 11, 1953.
Mom loved watching reruns of all her old classic TV favorites, and also enjoyed playing bingo with her family and all of her bingo buddies.
Artie was very quick witted and had a great sense of humor. She lived a very simple life spending most of her time with her children and grandchildren. She also loved her two cats, Meme and Kee-Kat.
Mom was a very hard worker who was employed the majority of her life at various local companies, including Eck-Adams, Peru YMCA, and Area 5. In the early 1970’s, she helped manage and run a couple of local restaurants in Peru as well, including the South Side B&K. She finally retired at the age of 72.
Her favorite times were always spent with her kids and grandkids, simply sitting around the living room, talking and watching TV together.
She is survived by her four children: Doug Working – Peru, Gary Working – Peru, Terry McCoy (Stan) – Peru, Randy Working (Bridget) – Indianapolis.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Angie Dwyer (Shaun) – Peru, Cory Schroeder (Asia) – Crestview, FL, Tyler Working – Indianapolis, Sydney Working – Indianapolis, Amber Lewis – Augusta, GA, Jonathan Working – Peru, Christopher Working – Peru, Christy Alspach – LaFountain, IN, Melissa Working – Greenwood, SC, Mathew Working – Las Vegas, NV, and is also survived by her 15 great-grandchildren: Dawson, Nolan, Jacob, Isaac, Amanda, Brenda, Paul, Katelyn, Tyler, Gage, Aliva, Brandon, Alexis, Zyirus, Blake.
Artie is preceded in death by her parents and 16 siblings. She has one surviving sister, Irene Bevins, of Enosburgh, VT.
A private service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the The Scratching Post of Peru, IN, or Arthritis Foundation Indiana.
