Anna Catherine “Betty” (Carter) Davis, 93, Muncie, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, 7:40 p.m., at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.
Betty was born in Grant County on September 12, 1922, to Eli Harrison and Lodeska Ann (Hubert) Carter. She married James William Davis on May 24, 1941. Jim and Betty would have been married 75 years next month.
Betty was proud of being a “farm wife” as the family grew up on their farm near Fairmount. She also worked at the Osborn Paper Company in Marion and the Owens-Illinois glass plant in Gas City.
Betty loved drawing, reading, gardening, and sharing lunch together with friends at MCL. Most of all, though, she loved her family and worked tirelessly to provide a caring home environment that was filled with good food, thoughtful conversation, laughter, and a little card playing.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Jim Davis; sons, Jim (wife, Jill) Davis and Dave “Doc” (wife, Linda) Davis; grandchildren, Joe (wife, Theresa) Davis, Sherri (husband, Neil) Greer, James Davis, Ashley (husband, Curt) Howard, and Chris Hahn; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Evelyn Thornburg.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Joe and Hubert Carter, and sister, Mary Grant.
Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City.
The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park in Marion.
