Alberta J. Giegold, 96, North Manchester, IN died at 7:05 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, IN. She was born December 18, 1920 in North Manchester, IN to Herman & Lillian (Heeter) Martin. She graduated in 1938 from Central High School, North Manchester, IN. On August 24, 1941 she married A. William Giegold. He died December 27, 2001. Alberta worked at Wing’s Flower Shop and retired from Star Excavating. She attended Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester, IN where she loved to teach Sunday School. She had a passion for remembering active duty service men thru cards and letters. She was very actively engaged in the history of North Manchester to her final days. She is survived by her son, Andy (Paula) Giegold, Garrett, IN; daughter, Mrs. Tom (Billie) Hedde, Camden, IN; brother-in-law, Joe Mort, Warsaw, IN; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. One daughter, Teena Markins, two brothers, John Martin and Duane Martin, and two sisters, Marilyn Mort and Alice Wilson, are deceased. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN.
