Akron Man Injured in Miami County Crash

Miami County, Ind. – Today at approximately 11:25 a.m., officers from the Indiana State Police and the Miami County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle crash on U.S. 31 near Miami County Road 800 North, in which an Akron man was injured.

The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper Chuck Meyer revealed that Rick Miller, 60, Akron, IN was driving a 2001 Ford  pickup truck southbound on U.S. 31 near Miami County Road 800 North. Miller was allegedly following another vehicle too closely. When the vehicle in front of Miller’s truck slowed down, Miller braked hard, causing his truck to go out of control. The Ford truck went into the median, rolled at least once, coming to rest on its tires. Miller, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the truck.

Miller was flown, by Lutheran Air II Helicopter, to a Ft. Wayne hospital. He suffered unknown injuries.

This crash is still under investigation, but at time neither the use of alcohol nor narcotics is suspected as having contributed to the crash.
