43 Wabash High School Choir Students Participate in ISSMA State Contest

WABASH, Ind. – This past Saturday, February 17th, 43 of our Wabash High School choir students participated in the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Vocal and Piano Solo and Ensemble State Contest at Perry Meridian HS in Indianapolis. Of the 43 students, a total of 13 events were registered – 9 vocal solos, one small mixed ensemble, a female barbershop quartet, a large men’s ensemble, and a large female ensemble. Overall, Wabash High School students earned two silver medals, five gold medals and six gold with distinction medals.

Students taking vocal solos were Trace Goodwin, Amira Siddiqui, Ben Hewitt, Zach Smith (Gold With Distinction), Mackenzie Hoefer, Austin Morgan (Gold With Distinction), Mackenzie Sheridan (Gold With Distinction), Emilly Martin and Kennedy Watson Haynes (Gold With Distinction).

The small mixed ensemble comprised of Mackenzie Hoefer, Emilly Martin, Austin Morgan and Blake Wiser earned a Gold With Distinction.

Men’s Choir (Austin Morgan, Blake Wiser, Blake Price, Dylan Smith, Carter Morningstar, Logan Luttrell, Trace Goodwin, Bryce France, Ben Hewitt, Zach Smith, Christian Simpson, Jacob James, Logan Swafford, Alex Baggett, Drayton Larimore Rowe, DJ Bricker, Todd Ihnen-Goff, Colton Smith) earned a gold rating.

The Symphonic Voices ensemble (Taylor Mettler, Emilly Martin, Mackenzie Hoefer, Abigail Hobson, Abony Petty, Allyson Dillon, Olivia Lindsay, Camille Kugler, Kaitlyn Hashbarger, Alicyn Sheets, Mackenzie Sheridan, Abbey Baggett, Zoe Denney, Chaney Byers, Rebekah Freeman and Isabel Hughes) earned a perfect score on their performance, securing them a Gold With Distinction rating.
