WABASH, IN – The Parkview Wabash Foundation Gala returns for 2023 on Saturday, Nov. 4, at the historic Honeywell Center in downtown Wabash.
The Gala will light up the Honeywell Center from 5:30 to 11 p.m. on Nov. 4, offering guests outstanding food, great dance music, lively company, an auction extravaganza and a marvelous means of supporting the community through generosity.
Last year’s Gala reflected on a century of professional healthcare service to the community through the hospital entities that would evolve into Parkview Wabash Hospital. This year, the popular semi-formal event looks into the future with the theme, “Wabash County: Healthier Tomorrow.”
Dr. Eric Reichenbach, section chief of Parkview Physicians Group – Family Medicine in Wabash, Huntington and Kosciusko counties, is the honorary chair of the 2023 Gala. He will share the vision of our community’s becoming healthier as we continue to work together toward that goal.
As with past events, proceeds from the 27th Gala will support local healthcare needs. This year’s beneficiary is the Greatest Need Fund, administered by the Parkview Wabash Foundation.
Every three years, Parkview conducts a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA), gathering input from area clinicians, local decision-makers and citizens alike. Community needs shift over time, and the assessment provides a tool for ensuring that healthcare resources and funding are appropriately invested to address the needs that are most crucial to the health of the whole community.
The latest CHNA took place in 2022, and mental health/substance use and obesity were identified as priority areas for Wabash County for 2023 – 2025. Other needs were noted as well, and the Greatest Need Fund will be used to address some of those issues – such as prevention of chronic health conditions like diabetes, heart disease and obesity – plus enhanced resources for maternal health.
“Wabash County has some good momentum going right now as various groups in the community are actively working on improving overall quality of life,” said Deb Potempa, market president, Parkview Health Southwest. “Parkview Wabash is focused on promoting and preserving the health of our community, yet we know even more needs to be done. With funding from our foundation, promising work is being done at Parkview Wabash on recovery from addiction. This year’s Gala will raise additional dollars to help us use the Greatest Need Fund in continuing our efforts on obesity, chronic disease prevention, and support for pregnant women and newborns.”
