William Harley McMurray, Jr., 80, Marion, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 11:05 a.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016. He was born in Hiltons, Virginia, on July 6, 1936, to the late William Harley and Odie (Godsey) McMurray, Sr. He married Ada Faye Smith on December 14, 1956, and she preceded him in death on March 29, 2016.

William worked at Foster Forbes as a mold cleaner and retired in 1972. He was previously in the landscaping business. William was an avid raccoon hunter. He was a fan of Bill Monroe, as well as bluegrass and gospel music. William enjoyed taking walks with his wife in the mall and spending time with his church family at South Marion Freewill Baptist Church.

Loved ones William leaves behind include his children, Rodney (Tammy) McMurray, Swayzee, Roger (Connie) McMurray, Churchill, Tennessee, Haskill (Barbara) McMurray, Converse, Kathy (Joe) Adcock, LaFontaine, Lee (Stephanie) McMurray, Marion, Allen (Michele) McMurray, Marion, and Jeff (Sarah) McMurray, Marion; siblings, Betty (Phillip) McNutt, Kingsport, Tennessee, Peggy (Preston) Roberson, Kingsport, Tennessee, Russell (Margaret) McMurray, Hiltons, Virginia, Muriel (Lloyd) Matthews, Kingsport, Tennessee, and Donnie (Brenda) McMurray, Hiltons, Virginia; 27 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Ada, his loving wife of nearly 60 years; brother, Doug McMurray; and son, David “Daniel” McMurray.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Allen Hudson and Rev. Leland McMurray officiating. Entombment will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
