Robert E. Huff

Robert E. Huff, 82, passed to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Seton Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness.

Bob married his high school sweetheart, Madonna (née Floyd) on April 10, 1954. He is survived by two daughters, Vickie Hoffman and Diana (Robert) Abbott; 7 grandchildren, David Hoffman, Elizabeth (Caleb) Zeutschel, Stephanie (Garrett) Butcher, Michelle (Robert) Olsen, Amanda (Robert) Cusic, Kristin (Cole) Short and Stacie Abbott; 3 great-grandchildren, Corbin Hoffman, Olivia Zeutschel and Lyra Butcher; and his beloved Sheltie, Lucy.

He was born on July 28, 1935 to Earl and Roberta (née Eastman) Huff in Raymondville, TX, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by brother David Huff.

He graduated from Wendell L. Wilkie HS in 1953 followed by 4 years of trade school to become a Tool and Die Maker working in Elwood, IN. In 1972 he took employment with United Technologies in Peru, IN where he became an Engineer and worked until his retirement in 1997. He loved traveling and over the years had visited nearly every state. He grew up golfing and carried the love for the game throughout his life. Bob earned his private pilot’s license in 1994. He first co-owned and flew a Cherokee Warrior. In 2004 he restored a 1946 Aeronca Champ which he enjoyed flying for the remainder of his life. He also built and flew large scaled radio control airplanes. He took up stain glass making as he settled into many years wintering in Sebring, FL and blessed our homes with his works of art.

He loved the outdoors and took great pride in growing and grooming the perfect lawn and landscape. He could build or fix most anything, having and passing down a work ethic of “Any job worth doing, is worth doing well.”

Bob was a member of the First Christian Church in Peru, Indiana. He lived with gratitude, a serving heart, and love of God, family and life.

Visitation with family will be held at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana from 1pm – 2:30pm on Saturday, February 24, 2018 with a memorial service immediately following.
