Man Found and Arrested after Stealing Cars and Evading Police

WABASH COUNTY, Ind. – On Friday September 13th at 7:59pm, Wabash County Central Dispatch was advised by Rochester Police Dept that a Wabash resident had stolen a vehicle in Rochester and was possibly in route back to Wabash with the vehicle. At 8:06pm, dispatch received a call from a resident in the north west corner of Wabash County. The caller stated that a male just came to their residence in a stolen vehicle and left prior to officers arriving. At 8:18pm, a second call came in from another resident in the area. This caller stated that a male approached her as she exited her vehicle, in her driveway. The caller said that the male stole her vehicle began to drive it through their woods. Deputies arrived and learned that the vehicle contained two handguns. Deputies began to set up a perimeter around the woods in an attempt to locate the male. Several agencies assisted the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office with the search. Assisting were the Indiana State Police, North Manchester Police Department, Rochester Police Department and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. Officers began to search the woods for the suspect and the vehicle. It was determined at that time due to the darkness and the thick wooded cover, that the search would stop for the night and officers would start the search again during daylight hours. On September 14 at 8:30am, Deputies resumed searching for the suspect from the previous night. At 10:06 am, Wabash County Central Dispatch received a call from a resident in the same area of the search, the caller stated that a male was at their residence attempting to steal their vehicle. The caller stated that a family member had the suspect at gunpoint. Deputies responded to the area and apprehended the suspect. Both firearms were located on the suspect and recovered as evidence. The suspect, Trevor Miller, was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail. The case will be forwarded to the Wabash County Prosecutor’s Office for review to determine charges.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation. Every defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
