E. Dwayne “Bud” Moorman, 86, Converse, went to be with the Lord at 8:25 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor. He was born in Grant County, Indiana, on June 8, 1931, to the late Earl L. and Martha (Elliott) Moorman. On June 8, 1952, Bud married the love of his life, Pauline M. Shearer, and she survives.
Bud was a 1950 graduate of Swayzee High School and a member of Converse UMC. He had a passion for farming and farmed his own land plus other nearby acreage over the course of his life. Bud was a good carpenter as well. He also went on a mission trip to Haiti as well as a mission trip to Oklahoma where he helped Native American Ministries. He loved to go fishing, especially with his children and grandchildren. Bud will be remembered as a hard-working, caring, and extremely compassionate man. He loved greeting everyone with a hug and will be missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 65 years, Pauline; children, John C. (Sheila) Moorman, Swayzee, and Michael J. (Kim) Moorman, Converse; daughter-in-law, Nondus Malott; grandchildren, Lesley (Rob) Barton, Marion, Brooke (John) Cheek, Swayzee, Mary (Seth) Boyes, Swayzee, Phillip (Sarah) Moorman, Huntington, Carl (Amelia) Moorman, Sweetser, Adam (Brittany) Moorman, Brownsburg, and Abbey (Travis) Stoutenborough, West Lafayette; 19 great-grandchildren, Elijah, Gabriel, Isabella, Baylee, Gracie, Macallister, Mallory, Madelyn, Chloe, Levi, Matthew, Isaac, Andrew, Ava, Connor, Callum, McKenzie, Tinley, and Benjamin; siblings, Mary (Leland) Buroker, Rosetta (Tom) Beck, Margaret Street, Nancy Jones, Lee (Linda) Moorman, and Ralph (Rosemary) Moorman; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by sons, Timothy D. Moorman and infant Phillip Moorman, and sisters, Alice Cole, Pauline Kratzer, Ruth Ann Sheedy, and Janet Stinger.
Family and friends may call from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Mt. Olive UMC, 2015 N. 300 W., Marion, IN.
A Celebration of Life service for Bud will take place at the church at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017, with Pastor Rob Barton officiating. Burial will follow at Thrailkill Cemetery in Swayzee.
