Wabash Fire Department responds to Paperworks Fire

WABASH, Ind. –  The Wabash Fire Department received a call of a fire in the boiler room at Paperworks Inc. at 1016. Upon arrival of the first unit advised there was heavy black smoke from the center of the building and that employees had been evacuated. I.C. at the scene was advised by Paperworks employees that there was a person injured upstairs and that there was a fire in the tower area. Fire department personnel were escorted to the area of the injured person and fire. The personnel were advised of a possible second injured employee. One employee was treated and transferred and the other was treated and refused transport. Name, condition, and destination are being withheld for privacy purposes.

All Fire department personnel were called to scene to assist with firefighting and EMS duties. The fire was declared to be under control at 1040 with units released at 1143. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. The amount of damage will be confirmed with Paperworks before any release of information. Paperworks personnel are to be commended for their response and assistance in all aspects of the incident.
