Visit Wabash County hosting poetry contest for 2024 Destination Guide

WABASH, IN – Visit Wabash County is eager to announce their very first poetry contest. The winner will be highlighted in the 2024 Destination Guide.

The 2024 poetry contest theme is “Welcome to Wabash”. Entries will be accepted now through September 29. All entries are to be submitted to tourism@visitwabashcounty.com. Entries must be original work by the party who is submitting the poem.

“The poetry contest will be a way to showcase the creative work of local minds while making the next volume of the Destination Guide unique from the current issue,” said Hayley Renbarger, marketing strategist for Visit Wabash County.

The guidelines for the entries are as follows; entries must be at least 3 but cannot exceed 26 lines this is including stanza breaks, and cannot exceed 55 characters per line, including spaces between words. Any submission that exceeds these limits will be automatically disqualified. The poem title does not count as a line. Also note that poems containing language that is vulgar, offensive, or wholly inappropriate will not be accepted.

“After the Destination Guide has been released, we will host a public poetry reading night to offer writers who submitted their work a chance to read their poems aloud,” said Renbarger.

Each year, the Visit Wabash County marketing team concentrates on drafting content and designing featured articles, however, the entire Visit Wabash County staff assists with contributing ideas.
