Missing child located safely in Wabash County

WABASH COUNTY, IN- On July 24, 2023, at approximately 12:10 pm, Members of the Indiana State Police Peru Post, Wabash County Sheriff’s Office, Wabash City Police Department, Lafountain Town Marshal, Wabash City Fire Department, Wabash City EMS, multiple Volunteer Fire Departments, Indiana Conservation, Roann Town Marshal, Duke Energy, Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Wabash County Courthouse personnel, and several community members responded to the area of CR 200 N and CR 100 W., Wabash, IN for a report of a missing child.

After approximately a 3-hour search using an Indiana State Police Helicopter, several K9 units, an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone), and several ground units, the child was safely located in a nearby cornfield. The child was treated at the scene and released to the family.

The Indiana State Police and Wabash County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank everyone who provided resources and assistance locating the child.
