MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. – On 10-07-19 Miami County Sheriff’s Deputies received information that a 62 year-old Miami County resident failed to return home after telling family members and friends that he was going fishing on 10-04-19. Deputies initiated an investigation into the possible whereabouts of the missing person. A Silver Alert was issued during the preliminary stages of the investigation.
The Logansport Police Officers were dispatched to a parking problem at 101 Eberts Rd near a pavilion at approximately 11:25am on 10-09-19. Upon Officer’s arriving at the scene a vehicle was located in a wooded area unoccupied. The vehicle located in the wooded area returned to a male subject where a Silver Alert out of Miami County had been issued. The wooded area was secured and contact was made with Miami County Sheriff’s Dept. who arrived on scene. Several agencies arrived on scene to assist in a search of the woods for the male subject. The body of a deceased 62 year-old white male was later located in the wooded area. Out of respect for the family the name is not being released at this time as this is an ongoing investigation.
Assisting agencies along with the Logansport Police Dept. and Miami County Sheriff’s Dept. were Cass County Sheriff’s Dept., Indiana State Police, Logansport Fire Dept., Royal Center Fire Dept., and Cass County Fire District 1.
