Tippecanoe Valley students honored celebrating the Honeywell CommUNITY Arts Program

Wabash, IN – Honeywell Arts & Entertainment honored Tippecanoe Valley students during a reception celebrating the Honeywell CommUNITY Arts Program on May 15. Select sixth-grade students at Tippecanoe Valley Middle School showcased their work to the public through displays of their original Mexican folk art known as alebrijes. Kindergarten through fifth grade Hispanic and Latino/a students at Akron and Mentone Elementary Schools created paper flowers.
CommUNITY Arts is a multi-week collaboration between Honeywell Arts In Education and Tippecanoe Valley Schools. Teaching artist Emily Guerrero joins the classrooms each week, inspiring students to give voice to their individual stories through visual art and storytelling. Guerrero states, “The CommUNITY Arts program is a critical building block to help students and their families see they are appreciated, included, applauded, and valued.”
The Honeywell CommUNITY Arts Program is made possible through the generosity of funders such as the Flagstar Foundation, with additional support from the Indiana Arts Commission, which receives support from the State of Indiana and the National
Endowment for the Arts, and the Indiana Department of Education.
An offering of Honeywell Arts & Entertainment, Honeywell Arts In Education is a collection of programs created for educators to reap developmental benefits in the classroom. The program provides more than 51,000 student interactions across 14 counties and 85 schools in Indiana annually and is offered at little or no cost to the schools. These programs are made possible by generous supporters of Honeywell Arts & Entertainment, a nonprofit charity dedicated to providing arts, education, and entertainment for all.
