Miami County Board of Commissioners Approved Closing of Courthouse and Annex Buildings to the Public

MIAMI COUNTY, IN- Based on the Executive Order from Governor Holcomb and for the safety of citizens and employees, the Miami County Board of Commissioners approved closing the Courthouse and Annex buildings to the public and all non-essential personnel, effective March 25 through April 6, 2020. The Courthouse will be open Tuesday through Thursday for scheduled court hearings. A list of essential offices can be found on the County website and Facebook page, along with special instructions for modified schedules. We appreciate the understanding and flexibility of our citizens and employees during these uncertain times. 
Essential Offices: Clerk, Prosecutor (criminal), Voter, Auditor, Assessor, Treasurer, Recorder, Courts, Sheriff/Jail/9-1-1, Highway, EMA, Health/Environmental Health, Public Defender, Community Corrections, CASA and Probation.
Below are a list of offices that are working on modified schedule to conduct business as much as possible. Please understand most business will be conducted via email or limited phone and with very limited staff. Our response times may be slower than normal. We are working on essential matters only and will resume our daily operations when we return on April 7, 2020. We will update as more information on office operations becomes available.

~Community Corrections: Available by phone and email. Please visit the county website for contact information.  
~Courts: By scheduled order. Please visit mycase.in.gov for court related case information.
~Health Department / Vital Records: Registrar will be in the office on Thursday from 8 am – 4pm. The office will not be open to the public, but can be contacted via phone at 765-472-3901 Ext. 1228 or by email at dvigar@miamicountyin.gov. All mail will be processed at the time as well.
~Health Nurse: Will be on site and available by phone Monday – Friday 8 – 4 pm for State/County documentation and to monitor ongoing situation. The Health Dept. is closed to the public, but you can contact them by phone. Patients already scheduled will be seen, but will be screened and only the patient will be allowed inside the office. Immunization Assistant special hours Monday – Thursday 8 – 4 and Friday 8-12. Immunization Assistant will be available to assist with phone calls.
~Planning and Zoning: Office will continue to issue building permits by appointment only. Applications are on the website and can be completed and emailed to mkmckinney@miamicountyin.gov.
