Jan Williams, Executive Director of the Youth Services Bureau of Huntington County, accepted the proclamation and later talked to MiBash News about recent vandalism of the Youth Services Bureau building in Huntington. Williams said that $50,000 of damage was done to the building and that number is expected to rise.

Mayor Long also proclaimed March 24th through the 31st Farm Worker Awareness Week in Wabash. Additionally, he proclaimed March 31st as Cesar Chavez Day. The last fact is interesting because Chavez is widely considered a hero of the left for his community organizing of farm workers and civil rights activism of Hispanic empowerment. President Barack Obama adopted Chavez’s slogan “Yes, one can” for his 2008 campaign.

Finally, the Wabash City Council approved a rezoning of land close to US 24 from Residential to General Business for the new Parkview Wabash medical facility to built on site.
