Marion Shooting Leaves One Critical

MARION – On July, 2, 2020 at approximately 11:41 pm, Marion Police responded to the 500 Block of East Highland Avenue for a shooting.
Robert Beck, age 34 who lives at the residence was standing in front of the residence. Beck reported that he had shot someone and called 911 to report the shooting. Beck was placed into handcuffs for officer safety as the investigation continued. Officers gained entry into the residence and located Brian Eccles, age 51 with gunshot wounds to his left arm and left chest area. Also present inside the residence were Jodi Beck, age 35 and her two children ages 7 and 11.
Police administered medical care to Eccles until Marion General Hospital medical personnel arrived on scene. MGH personnel arrived and transported Eccles to the hospital.
Through the investigation officers learned that the Beck’s had separated earlier in the day of July 2 Beck who had left his home earlier returned to find Eccles in a bedroom with his wife. A confrontation occurred and Beck shot Eccles with a .380 caliber handgun (recovered by police).
Robert Beck was arrested to answer to the charge(s): Aggravated Battery, Level 3 Felony, Bond: $30,005.00 cash/surety.
Brian Eccles was air-flown from Marion General Hospital to a hospital in Fort Wayne. Eccles is reported to be in critical condition.
