Care kit donations needed for Day of Caring

MIAMI COUNTY, IN- United Way of Miami County announces their Virtual Day of Caring drive-by donation event. Due to the pandemic, they’ve replaced their annual Day of Caring with a new way to come together. The goal is to help the most vulnerable residents during this time of great need. 

HOW YOU CAN HELP: Donate one or more care kits and drop them off at one of the six convenient locations on Wednesday, July 22, anytime from 9 am – 7 pm. Put the kit(s) in your trunk, and volunteers will unload them for you so you don’t have to exit your car. (Rain date for event July 29)

CARE KITS: Food kits- non-perishable food items, canned meats, soup, vegetables, pasta, cereal, and peanut butter. Dental kits- toothbrushes, floss, and toothpaste. Personal hygiene kits- soaps, shampoo, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products. Safety kits- PPE, face masks, medical gloves, and hand sanitizer. Education kits- Children’s books for ages 4-6 or school supplies (pencils, paper, folders, and Kleenex). Financial stability kits- gas gift cards, grocery store gift cards, and Y transit passes.

6 DROP-OFF LOCATIONS: Miami Co. Helping Hands at 176 S. Broadway, Dukes Memorial Hospital Boulevard entrance, Mexico Fire Dept. at 2262 W. Main Street, Mexico, Amboy Fire Dept. at 216 N. Main Street, Amboy, Pipe Creek Township Fire Dept. at 339 W. Pearl Street, Bunker Hill, and United Way of Miami Co. at 13 East Main Street, Peru.
