INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana — In an email, Ashley Hungate, Director of Communications for the Indiana State Personnel Department, officially confirmed that Margery Justice was terminated from her job as Director of the Wabash County Department of Child Services late last month. The email reads as follows.

“Margery Justice was terminated January 28, 2016, for violating DCS Code of Conduct and State of Indiana/DCS policies. I can’t provide further detail because Ms. Justice has 30 days to appeal her termination. This appeals process culminates in a hearing where additional facts may be presented and a decision is made by a citizen commission. This is the fairest forum for both sides to be heard. Additional information can be found at http://www.in.gov/seac/.

She began with what is now DCS on October 7, 1976, as a Clerk Typist 5. After several promotions, she became a County Welfare Director E6 on April 10, 2000.

The position has not yet been posted. When it is, DCS will follow the standard hiring process to fill.”

James Wide, Indiana DCS Spokesman, told local media that all the cases of county children in DCS care will remain with Wabash County case managers. It is expected, Wide said, that the Regional Manager will assume the Director’s duties until that position is filled.
