WABASH, IN – All knitting enthusiasts – novice to expert – are invited to a knitting gathering at the Dr. James Ford Historic Home in celebration of National Knitting Day on Sat., June 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Dr. James Ford Historic Home is located at 177 W Hill Street in Wabash, Indiana.

Attending knitters are encouraged to bring their favorite needles, show off their “purls”, spin a few yarns, and cast their cares away…however, knitted brows are discouraged.

Manager Michele Hughes will be on hand to answer questions regarding the house and lifestyle of Dr. Ford and his family.  This is a great opportunity to visit this historic site in downtown Wabash, especially for those who have never visited.  This event is free and open to the public.

For more information about the National Knitting Day event, or for general information about the historic home, visit the Dr. James Ford Historic Home website at www.jamesfordmuseum.org, or call 260.563.8686.  Regular visiting hours are Fri. & Sat. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sun. noon to 4 p.m. and Mon.-Thurs. by appointment.

The Dr. James Ford Historic Home offers a look at life in Wabash during the mid-1800s with exhibits that share information on family life, Dr. Ford’s participation in the Civil War, dining and etiquette, household tasks, and historic preservation.
