WABASH,Indiana – Hundreds of parents and kids attended the annual Bunny Bash at the Charley Creek Gardens and Easter Egg Hunt on the lawn of the Honeywell House on a lovely, sunny Saturday in Wabash. In fact, Teresa Galley, Educational Outreach Manager for the Honeywell Foundation and organizer of the Bunny Bash, said that people came in from as far away as North Manchester and Kokomo for 20th-annual event. This year marks the second time the Bunny Bash has been held at the Charley Creek Gardens.

After the kids made a little bunny rabbit cutout, they joined the line to see the Easter Bunny in the greenhouse area of the gardens. While some of the very little ones seemed scared of the fully-grown, six-foot tall bunny, most kids seemed to like siting on his knee while their parents and loved ones proudly snapped away on their cell phones. After pictures with the bunny, the kids could walk to the adjacent garage area of the gardens to make various crafts like glitter and rhinestone Easter eggs. They also made colored eggs and had fun making hand-print bunny rabbits.

A steady stream of parents and their children attended the two hour Bunny Bash Saturday morning. While there was no official count of those attending, Mark Guenin of the event’s sponsor Guenin Law Office told MiBash News that the number was slightly down this year. He said that while the event did not draw quite as many parents and kids as last year, the hundreds that did attend had a great time. Volunteer Robin Skiles, whose day job is teaching at North Miami Elementary, was the Easter Bunny’s helper on Saturday and explains what the Bunny Bash is all about.

The kids that attended the Easter Egg Hunt at 12:30 made mad dashes to collect the eggs strewn out on the lawn of the Honeywell House. The little eggs were filled with candy, but the real prize was one the three golden eggs per hunting area hidden in hard to find places. Placed in those special eggs were messages of prizes ranging from stuffed animals to gift certificates for the Eagles Theatre and Charley Creek Inn Candy Shoppe.

Honeywell House Manager and Chef David Ericsson on how the Easter Egg Hunt went this year.

There were three different areas of the hunt for different age groups and MiBash News ran with the older kids as they scampered their way around the lower west lawn of the Honeywell House.

A quarter of an hour was all it took for the lawn to be free of eggs. At approximately 12:45, the exhausted kids and their parents began making their way home to enjoy all the candy the little ones picked up Saturday afternoon.
