PERU,IN -On August 11, at approximately 8:32pm, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Cherokee Court, in reference to a juvenile problem. Officers quickly established this was a domestic dispute between a mother and her 17-year-old daughter. The mother advised her and her daughter had some issues earlier in the evening and were sitting in her vehicle trying to talk things out. At some point the daughter pulled out a handgun, loaded it, placed it on her lap and made threats to do harm to her mother or herself. A short time later, the daughter took the gun and exited the vehicle.
Officers went with the mother to her West Second Street address, where they were given consent to search the home by the mother. Officer located a handgun, matching the description given, in a hole in the wall in a stairway.
The juvenile was taken into custody and is being charged with Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon, Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Firearm without a Permit and Possession of Paraphernalia.
The daughter was transported to a juvenile detention facility.
