Huntington police respond to Armed Robbery

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – On Saturday May 25, 2019 at approximately 11:57 pm the Huntington Police Department along with the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department responded to Save On Liquor located at 29 Parkmoor Drive, Huntington, Indiana, in reference to an armed robbery.  While searching the area a Huntington Police Department officer encountered the suspect Anthony Wilburn who immediately fled the area on foot. The officer gave chase and during an encounter with the suspect, the officer discharged his weapon striking Wilburn.  Anthony Wilburn did not sustain any life-threatening injuries.

The officer involved was Darius Hillman who has 2 years of service with the Huntington City Police Department.  Officer Hillman was placed on paid administrative leave according to our department policy.

On June 3, 2019, Huntington County Prosecutor Amy Richison reviewed all necessary information and determined that Officer Hillman responded reasonably and committed no criminal offenses when he acted to protect himself, his fellow officers, and the community.  

Officer Hillman has completed all Huntington Police Department requirements necessary to return to duty.
