Cynthia J. Asher, age 67, of Huntington, Indiana was the restrained driver of an
Oldsmobile Regency (correction to HCSO news release, not Buick) that had stopped on Mahon Road at US
Highway 24. Reports indicate she allowd a couple vehicles to pass, then proceeded to cross the highway when she
was struck by an eastbound Chrysler 300. The right-angle (T-Bone) impact on the drivers side caused her vehicle to
spin and come to rest in the median on US Highway 24. Despite life saving efforts of law enforcement, first
responders and EMS, the decedent was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chrysler 300 sustained
minor injuries. An autopsy is pending at this time and the investigation by the sheriff’s and coroner’s offices
continues.
