WABASH,Indiana – Local business owners, city officials and that those just pulling for Wabash’s victory were still on cloud nine at a reception held at the Honeywell Center put on by Wabash Marketplace, Inc., and Visit Wabash County a mere three-and-a-half hours after the announcement that Wabash had just won the Small Business Revolution on Main Street contest.

Around 500 people came to the reception Thursday to hear Wabash Mayor Scott Long and several local business owners speak as to what the victory means to the community.

Cam Potts, Deluxe Corporation’s VP of Public Relations, says that, for the company, it’s about telling the stories of what it means to be a small business owner in Wabash.

Amanda Brinkman, Chief Brand and Communications Officer for Deluxe, spoke at the reception and said that, essentially, Wabash has already won.

Aimee Emrick, Owner of Get Nailed, spoke to the way the community “hustled” for the win.

Matt Haynes, who by all accounts was of the main driving forces in getting the word out on social media, said that the contest has already instilled a sense of togetherness in the community.

Shelby McLaughlin, Project Manager for Wabash Marketplace also worked, by all accounts, tirelessly to ensure the win announced on Thursday.

Wabash Mayor Scott Long told the hundreds of attendees at the reception that this victory will be a tremendous boost for the small business owners in town for years to come. Both at the reveal at the Eagles Theatre and at the reception at the Honeywell Center, several people spoke to how great a competitor Silverton, Oregon, is and wished them all the best in their future endeavors.
