INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – The ride that malfunctioned at the Ohio State Fair killing one and injuring seven will not come to the Indiana State Fair.

Gov. Eric Holcomb confirmed this morning that the “Fire Ball” was originally going to be at this year’s fair. Fair officials issued a statement earlier this morning saying that after the incident in Ohio, they will not allow it to come to this year’s state fair.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted by the tragic accident at the Ohio State Fair,” the statement said. “As the investigation into the cause of this accident continues, the Indiana State Fair and North American Midway Entertainment have made the decision to not operate the Fire Ball at the 2017 Indiana State Fair.”

Ride inspectors said the Fire Ball ride was inspected at a couple of different stages and was signed off Wednesday.

Republican Gov. John Kasich has ordered that all of the rides be shut down until additional safety inspections can be completed.

The man who was killed was one of several people who were thrown when the ride malfunctioned, officials said. Three of the injured remains hospitalized in critical condition late Wednesday.

Dramatic video captured by a bystander shows the ride swinging back and forth like a pendulum and spinning in the air when it crashes into something and part of the ride flies off, throwing riders to the ground.
