Alyssa McKilllip and Elise Gottschalk to Compete at Indiana State Fair Queen Pageant


Alyssa McKilllip, 2020 Wabash County Fair Queen and Elise Gottschalk, 2021 Wabash County Fair
Queen, will be competing in the 2022 Indiana State Fair Queen Pageant January 7-9. This marks the
63 rd Indiana State Fair Queen Pageant. The 2022 Miss Indiana State Fair Queen will be crowned
Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds by Claudia Duncan, the 2020 Indiana State
Fair Queen. The 2022 Indiana State Fair Queen will reign for the next twelve months, promoting the
Indiana State Fair as the official spokesperson and reigning over the 17-day fair July 29 – August 21,
2022.
Alyssa McKilllip was selected as the 2020 Wabash County Fair Queen. Alyssa is a sophomore at Butler
University studying Psychology and Pre-Physician Assistant Studies. Alyssa was a 10-year Wabash
County 4-H member and graduated from Northfield High School in 2020.
Elise Gottschalk was selected as the 2021 Wabash County Fair Queen. Elise graduated from Northfield
High School and is a freshman at Purdue University studying nursing with the goal of becoming a
registered nurse and furthering her education to become a family nurse practioner.
During the three-day event held January 7-9 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, each contestant will
participate in four preliminary judging categories – Interview, Professional Wear, Prepared Speech and
Formal Wear.
Preliminary judging of the professional and formal wear will be held in the Indiana Farmer’s Coliseum
at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2020. Ms. Guisewhite studied dance for 15 years and has chosen
that for the topic of her 1-minute prepared speech. The public is welcome to attend the preliminary
judging. Tickets are $10 each.
The finals will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, January 9 in the Indiana Farmer’s Coliseum. Sixteen (16) Semi-
Finalists will be selected during the pageant finals to provide additional recognition to the outstanding contestants. The semi-finalists will compete again in the prepared speech and professional wear. After
which 10 of those will be announced as the finalists. The finalist will be judged in their formal wear
and will be asked an on-stage impromptu question. The Indiana State Fair Queen Pageant finals and
queen coronation are open to the public. Tickets are $10 each.
