Maconaquah Elementary School Students Benefit from Kids Hope USA Last Week

BUNKER HILL, Ind. – An entire Maconaquah Elementary School third grade class benefited from a single mentorship last week in the spirit of Christmas.

Delmar Sease is a mentor to Mac El third grader James Stanbaugh through a program called Kids Hope USA. The partnership, which is part of a national program, formed last year between McGrawsville United Methodist Church and Maconaquah Elementary School. A few weeks ago, Sease and Stambaugh made a snowman out of wood that Sease had prepared. Stanbaugh enjoyed the activity so much that he asked Sease to come to his classroom and lead the rest of the class in the craft before Christmas break. Nancy Franklin, Director of Kids Hope USA at MUMC, said the program is currently looking to expand its mentor base to 25, which would be more than double the mentors the partnership had last year, and even 25 would not serve all the students who need a mentor. Franklin asked any adult who feels they can give one hour per week to one child to contact her through McGrawsville United Methodist Church.
