WPD notified of incident involving substitute teacher

WABASH, IN- On January 30, 2024 the Wabash Police Department was notified of an incident involving a substitute teacher and some students at the Wabash High School.  The incident occurred on January 29, 2024 and involved the substitute teacher inadvertently allowing students to view inappropriate messages on her cell phone during school hours.  The Wabash Police Department School Resource Officer was notified and requested to assist the school.  The substitute teacher was escorted off the school property. 

The Wabash Police Department is aware of various claims and allegations on social media concerning this incident.  However, at this time, those claims have not been substantiated and a majority are believed to be false. 

The Wabash County Prosecutor’s Office has been consulted with all available information and has determined that no criminal charges will be filed, unless additional evidence should be discovered.
