WABASH,Indiana – What a wild day it has been in the Small Business Revolution on Main Street contest. The day started with Wabash being 4,500 votes down to competitor Silverton, Oregon. After a brainstorming session this morning at the Visitor’s Center, Wabash closed the gap to only 800 or 900 votes by 1:15. By 3:15, Wabash had apparently surged into the lead with 400 more votes than Silverton.

In days past, the group behind the competition, Deluxe Corporation, only updated both cities on the vote tally once a day. Steve Downs, Executive Director of Wabash Marketplace, Inc., said that Deluxe is now offering the cities more regular updates. Downs also said that there has been 90,000 votes cast in the competition which awards $500,000 worth of marketing services, business advice and other support and improvements to the winning city.

It is though that Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee’s tweet in support of Wabash helped gather votes for the city on Monday. Wabash also reached out to the governor’s office, which might be another factor as to why Wabash has had such a last-minute rally.

Listeners have until Tuesday night to vote at www.smallbusinessrevolution.org. Everyone can vote on each one of their devices per day until the contest ends. There are rumors that a voter can vote multiple times a day on the same device by clearing their online history.
