Walorski: Remembering and Honoring American Heroes

IN- The following message is from Congresswoman Jackie Walorski:

This weekend, Americans in Indiana and around the country will set aside time to remember and honor the courageous men and women who have served and sacrificed to protect the American people and defend our homeland.

For generations, Hoosiers and Americans across the country have laid down their lives in service to our country – all at a great cost. Their immense sacrifice is a stark reminder that freedom isn’t free.

We must reaffirm our commitment to upholding the most fundamental values for which they gave all.

As former President Dwight Eisenhower once said, “History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid.” Today and every day, we remember that America is the land of the free only because of the brave.

While picnics kick off the summer season and stores advertise weekend sales, we must never forget the true purpose of Memorial Day. Please join me in remembering and honoring the Americans who laid down their lives to protect our nation and our most fundamental values. We are forever indebted to these heroes – and their families – for their sacrificial service.

In Congress, it is my privilege – and my responsibility – to stand by American servicemembers and our veterans, as well as the families of our fallen. My team and I are eager to help cut through red tape and get answers for Hoosiers who need answers from federal agencies such as the VA. If you or a loved one could use assistance, please visit my website or give us at call at (574) 204-2645 to learn more.

May God bless our heroes, and may God continue to bless our great nation.
